Van and car pooling is highly recommended for the TCRSF days at the U of M. Parking is limited and expensive.

Direction for Unloading and Loading Projects:

The Field House is located on University Avenue on the U of M campus, however, that is a one-way street and does not allow for any parking to unload or load projects. To find the loading and unloading area:

  • Going east on University Avenue (a one-way street), turn right onto SE 17th Avenue (same as Church Street).

  • Take the first left turn onto Pillsbury Drive.

  • The loading area is on the south side of the Field House on Pillsbury Drive.

Important Instructions for Students:

1.   Arrive on time or early!

2.   EAT BEFORE you arrive. Although the UofM plans to have a concessions table again this year, no food is allowed in the main room of the UofM Fieldhouse, and ONLY plain water is allowed by the projects, if appropriately capped.

3.  Do not wear high-heeled shoes. There is a special floor in the Field House. You must wear rubber-soled, flat shoes at the University Field House. The building has an athletic floor surface that can be damaged by high heels or non-rubber soles. If your shoes don't comply with this requirement, you will be asked to remove your shoes.

4.   Only participants and judges are allowed in the project arena during judging.

5.   No project may be removed until after the Saturday awards ceremony is concluded. (Sponsors awards require a photo taken with the award at the display after the ceremony. This applies to green, red, and blue ribbon winners.)

6.   Neither the University of Minnesota nor the TCRSF is responsible for anything at your project or anything that you leave behind. You may take important paperwork, notebooks, and expensive equipment with you Friday night. You can bring it back early Saturday for when the fair is open to the public.

7.   Borrowed equipment such as computers, monitors, VCR's, microscopes, etc., must be accompanied by written permission from the owner.

8.  An abstract must be part of your project display, displayed vertically. All required forms must be available at your project, and if your project requires a Form 1C Research Institution and/or a Form 7 Continuation, then copies of these forms must be displayed vertically at your project. If you have a Form 7, then you must also have the appropriate parts of the previous years' paperwork with that Form 7.

9.   Suggestion: Have extra copies of your abstract on hand to give to the judges.

10.  Your lab notebook, journal, and research paper should definitely be at your display during the fair judging.

11. Only one telephone will be available, and only for real emergencies. We strongly encourage students to bring cell phones to the science fair if at all possible. Consult the schedule below when arranging for rides. The nearest public telephone is located at one end of the Field House.

12.  Suggestion: Be sure to meet new friends at the science fair! It’s part of the fun!!!
